Sydney's Ferries services might not have been in the
minds of most Sydneysiders during the Olympic Transport effort but the
services were affected. Due to Olympic Sailing, Inner Harbour and Manly
ferry services had to run to altered timetables and courses at a slower
speed through the Harbour.
Also, Rivercats were used to shuttle athletes and
officials from the city to Homebush Bay. As a result, Rivercats did not
operate on the Parramatta route and regular passengers were not conveyed
on Rivercats or conveyed past Meadowbank.
Olympic Ticket holders were carried by ferry from
normal Sydney Ferries destinations but were not covered by the
Olympic Transport Scheme which allowed free travel on CityRail
trains and ORTA (Olympic Roads and Transport Authority) shuttle bus
services.
